Samera NWe have groups from all over the world enjoy Curly Hill. Read some below
I am part of a group of Ilkley based childminders who use Curly Hill Centre regularly. There are many great benefits of using Curly Hill Centre. For the children it provides them with the chance to socialise. Its close proximity to Middleton Woods gives the children the chance to explore, learn and play outdoors. Curly Hill Centre is a great addition to our weekly activities and both the children and childminders have a great time there, our group has always had a very warm welcome from the team of wardens. I cannot express enough what a great place it is for the local community and visitors alike.
We have used Curly Hill twice now with 20-40 year 9 students from Guiseley School (and we are booked in again for June next year). I can say on both occasions that we were warmly welcomed and the site is perfect for our needs. We use the site as part of our assessed bronze DofE expedition and fits perfectly between Guiseley School and Bolton Abbey. It is a great site and nice and quiet. It is also handy that, even as a school group, we are able to let the students off and exploring knowing that they'll never be too far away.
We have used Curly hill every year over the last 5 years. It offers a superb mix of walking locally and occasionally further North into the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The climbing either at the famous brimham rocks, or my favourite, the ultra accessible (near Curly Hill) Cow and Calf Rocks is just fantastic for beginners and young leaders. We love the fact the site is run by a dedicated team of volunteers and has that feel of a facility run for scouts by scouts.
